Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)
Access to the CDCP for patients in Montreal
The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)
The The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) helps eligible people cover part of the cost of certain oral health care. At OraMed Dental Clinic in Montreal, our team can see patients covered by the program and help them better understand how their coverage applies to their care.
Who can be eligible for the CDCP?
The CDCP is for Canadian residents who meet the program's conditions, including with regard to access to dental insurance and adjusted family net income.
Main eligibility conditions:
- Be a resident of Canada for tax purposes.
- Have an adjusted family net income of less than $90,000.
- Have filed the required income tax return for the previous year.
-
Not have access to dental insurance, including:
- Coverage offered by your employer, including certain health or wellness accounts
- Coverage available through a family member's employer
- Coverage obtained through a pension, a professional association, or a student organization
- Private dental insurance purchased individually or for the family
Understand your coverage
How does CDCP coverage work?
The CDCP reimburses certain eligible care based on the amounts set by the program. These amounts do not necessarily match the fees charged by a dental clinic in Quebec.
What percentage can the CDCP pay?
The percentage covered is determined according to adjusted family net income and applies to the eligible fees recognized by the program.
| Adjusted family net income | Share covered by the CDCP | Patient co-payment |
|---|---|---|
| Income under $70,000 | Up to 100% co-payment of the eligible fees according to the CDCP fee schedule | 0% co-payment (additional fees may be added) |
| From $70,000 to $79,999 | 60% co-payment of co-payment of the CDCP eligible fees | 40% co-payment of co-payment (additional fees may be added) |
| From $80,000 to $89,999 | 40% co-payment of co-payment of the CDCP eligible fees | 60% co-payment of co-payment (additional fees may be added) |
The CDCP uses its own fee schedule and reimburses only eligible services. If the clinic's fees exceed the amount recognized by the program, or if a requested treatment is not covered, the patient may have to pay the difference.
Prepare your application to the CDCP
Have the necessary information on hand before completing your application to the program.
The Social Insurance Number (SIN) of each person applying.
The SIN of your husband, wife, or common-law partner, when that applies.
The date of birth of each person covered by the application.
Information related to your income tax return, including your notice of assessment from the CRA.
Adjusted family net income shown on line 23600 of your return.
For families: Eligible children in the same family can be included in the process carried out by a parent or a legal guardian, in accordance with the program's terms.
Renew your participation in the CDCP
People already enrolled must renew their participation according to the CDCP requirements so that their coverage can continue.
- File your income tax return every year and make sure you have received your notice of assessment.
- Effectuez les démarches de renouvellement demandées dans Mon dossier Service Canada.
- Meet the renewal deadline indicated by the program in order to avoid an interruption of your coverage.
